Conservation Conversations launches webinar series

On July 29, 2020, the Institute for Parks, People and Biodiversity hosted the first event of a webinar series titled “Conservation Conversations." The series explores future challenges to conservation and offers strategies to help secure the long-term health of natural resources and landscapes. The first event, "Climate Change and Conserving Biodiversity: The Convention on Biological Diversity's 30x30 Goal," discussed the effectiveness of biodiversity conservation on federal and state public lands during the climate crisis, as well as the necessary actions to meet the goal of conserving thirty percent of North America's land base by 2030.

The panelists at this webinar included two professors in the Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management, Patrick Gonzales and Justin Brashares, and Joshua Tree National Park Chief of Science and Resource Stewardship Jane Rogers. The panel of experts was moderated by Jon Jarvis, the Chair of the Board for the Institute for Parks, People, and Biodiversity.
